A Virtual Tour of the National Museum of the American Indian Exhibitions Creation’s Journey and All Roads Are Good

The Four Directions project works to use technology as a catalyst for change in the schools. Recently students, teachers, community members and Four Directions personnel worked together to create a demonstration project with the National Museum of the American Indian.

This project included participants from Nah Tah Wahsh School, from the Potawatomi in Michigan and Santa Clara Day School, from the Santa Clara Pueblo in New Mexico. Together they created a virtual tour of some items from the museum¹s collection.

This project demonstrates how students can be engaged in a project that is both educationally and culturally enriching. The technology that makes this type of tour possible is called Quick Time Virtual Reality. Newer browsers have integrated the capability to view these types of files that let the user move the image or object for views from different angles. If your browser does not support this type of file you will need to download a helper or plug in to make the tour work for you.

Take some time to explore the tour, some of the files are large, but you will find it time well spent! When you are done exploring we hope you will come back to the Four Directions site and visit with us again.
