The moose is a BIG mammal found in the northern  regions of North America.  It was and still is an important animal to the Penobscot Indians of Central Maine.
As with the buffalo of the Plains, the Penobscot people made use of nearly the entire animal that they killed. The moose was used for food, clothing, tools, games, medicine, and shelter.
The majestic moose is now hunted in the fall.  Although the parts are not used as extensively as in the past, the meat is still enjoyed in many homes today.
