Description: This lesson provides an illustrated reading passage about the life of pottery maker Virgil James titled One Artist's Journey: Following the Footsteps of Virgil James. Virgil James, a full-blood Choctaw, was born and raised in southeastern Oklahoma. This lesson includes a career inventory to assist students plan their future.Objectives: Students will learn to distinguish between dirt and clay. Students will list at least one physical characteristic of clay.
