Description: This lesson provides an illustrated reading passage about the life of a Native American artist Virgil James, a Choctaw Indian who grew up in Oklahoma. It discusses the importance of art among early Native American people who consider themselves part of nature. This activity also includes a Career Inventory to assist students in planning their future. This lessons explores what it is like to have the condition known as color blindness and how Virgil James overcame this handicap.
