Description: This lesson provides an illustrated reading passage that contains the reflections of William Tyson a native Eskimo. Tyson compares the Eskimo culture of yesterday and today. Objectives: Students will explore the use of symbolism in the mythological animals of a culture. Students will explore the advantages of group cooperation in families, clans, neighborhoods, and extended families.
