Description: This lesson provides a reading passage about the career of Laurence Brown, a Navajo chemical engineer. It introduces students to the the field of chemical engineering and terms associated with chemistry. Disposable diapers are designed of new materials and are a primary recycling concern. Objectives: Students will identify the functions and materials in the disposable diaper. Students will learn why the disposable diaper is not easily recycled.
