INSTRUCTION

 

      Goal : To learn the melody to Allouette and discuss the meaning in both the English and Oneida languages.

 

Behavioral Objectives: The student will

   Sing the melody Allouette.

   Discuss how the words to this song demonstrate important feelings for the Oneida people.

 

Prior Knowledge Needed: 

   Pronounciation of the Oneida language.

   Basic note reading

   Follow musical map

 

     


Materials and Resources Needed:

   Copy of the French, English and Oneida words to the song Allouette in French.

   Copy of the meaning of the words put in the Oneida Language

   Piano or melody instrument

The Oneida words to this song follow.

 

Lesson Summary and Performance Tasks:

The lesson will provide the students with the opportunity to understand the meaning of the song.  The lesson will demonstrate, how the song relates to the culture, traditions and beliefs of the tribe.

 

Assessment:  Rubric (4 to 1 scale)

4    The students will be able to sing the song unaided in the Oneida Language with the correct pronunciation.

3    The students will be able to sing the song unaided in the Oneida Language with the correct pronunciation without the aid of a leader and with the transparency.

2    The students will be able to sing the song unaided in the Oneida Language with the correct pronunciation with the aid of a leader sometimes and the transparency.
