The teacher will initiate a discussion of different Seminole styles of dress and the history of patchwork. The class will visit various websites to find information about Seminole clothing (see materials/resources). The students will sit in a group and identify the patchwork design of the Seminoles and what they mean. Students will draw pictures of their favorite design and share them with their classmates. Following this activity, students will create a paper doll self-portrait using various patchwork designs. Students will then write a description of their self-portrait.
