INSTRUCTION

 

Goal: To learn about and appreciate the type of housing in which the students’ their ancestors lived.  (Seminole housing – chickee)

Lesson Summary and Performance Tasks: 

Students will read various articles on the history of chickees (www.semtribe.com).  The teacher will lead a class discussion on the importance of chickees in the history of Seminole housing.  Following these activities, individually, students will create a model of a chickee using various art supplies (Popsicle sticks, glue gun, etc.).  Lastly, students will present to the class their completed models.
