The Lummi Indians are a fishing culture.  Traditional and modern means of fishing are used to support the tribe.  Many Lummi Tribal School children spend time with their parents and grandparents  digging for clams and oysters and fishing for halibut and salmon after school and on the weekends.

Ways of the Water Curriculum provides lessons for students Kindergarten through eighth grade. This curriculum integrates content areas and cultural lessons at each grade level.  There will be a school-wide culminating activity at the end of each school year to celebrate the tribal school's relationship to the community and the community's relationship to the water.

All units are planned to meet the Washington State Essential Learnings.
