Four Directions Site Visit to Oneida

Oneida is a K-12 school system in Wisconsin near Green Bay. They became a part of the Four Direction Project in the final phase of school selection. Two individuals attended Summer Institute last year (97). 1998 is the first Summer Institute that Oneida will be sending a full team. They have requested this site visit for the purposes of more fully communicating what might be done at the Summer Institute and at their school through the Four Directions project.

This site visit will be for two days. During the first day, a sharing of other school's projects from last Summer Institute and a technology demonstration session will occur. Projects completed by other schools in the Four Directions project will be shown; technologies that will be demonstrated are, Multimedia Development using HyperStudio, Audio Streaming using Real Audio, and Web Page development using Netscape Composer and possibly Microsoft FrontPage. After this, a working lunch meeting with the Four Directions visitors and the Oneida Four Directions team will take place. During the afternoon of the first day, a series of small group work sessions will occur in one, possibly two Mac labs. These sessions will focus on the use of HyperStudio. The second day will focus on community involvement. It is hoped that Dr. Nancy Allen will be able to attend and present during this session. In addition to Dr. Allen, demonstrations will show what other schools have done and what can be done with the available technology.
